Transparency Notes

The City Paper’s Loose Lips Daily column has called for more transparency from Mayor Adrien M. Fenty regarding how his children were enrolled in a D.C. public school that is not his neighborhood school.  Citing a Tom Sherwood (WRC-TV) report that confirms that the Fentys did follow the appropriate process in seeking acceptance at the out-of-bounds school while noting that there is misinformation about the Mayor’s children’s enrollment, Loose Lips wonders why there has been no effort by the Mayor to clear up that misinformation.  The Mayor has repeatedly declined to comment on the subject.

And the Washington Post D.C. Wire blog noted that D.C. Public Schools’ Chancellor Michelle Rhee’s new website is finally correctly displaying her public schedule.  In recent days, the schedule merely showed that Rhee was "busy" at certain times, but did not include details about her appearances.  The problem has been fixed.
