D.C. body-cam access aired on Newseum TV

  The DCOGC co-sponsor a televised discussion of “Cameras, Cops and Accountability” Sept. 16, 2015 at the Newseum. In it, Kevin M. Goldberg. Coalition president and a moderator of the program, explaining research done by the DCOGC on enacted laws and proposed legislation relating to police body cameras. The panel included representatives from the American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation’s Capital, the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, the D.C. Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.

  Panelists debated the legal and policy considerations regarding public access to the recordings made by police body cameras. Although the panel addressed body camera policy nationwide, the main focus was on access to body camera videos, legislation and proposed regulations in the District of Columbia.
